Phillip came with a children's picture book about Ollie, a lovable young alligator who becomes separated from his family during a powerful storm. Along the way, Ollie meets Ernie the earthworm, Betty the butterfly, Lizzy the lizard, and Geri the giraffe, who are also separated from their families.
The challenge was to turn the manuscript into a cohesive visual story while showing the characters' emotions, relationships, adventures, and moments of faith, hope, kindness, and friendship. The project also required carefully matching each illustration to the manuscript and making detailed scene adjustments throughout the book.
We created colorful, expressive illustrations that bring Ollie and his group of unlikely friends to life. Each scene was developed around the manuscript, with particular attention to character expressions, body language, environments, and important story moments.
The illustrations included scenes of the storm, Ollie's journey along the river, his rescue of Ernie, Betty, Lizzy, and Geri, their reunions with their families, and the final emotional reunion between Ollie and his parents. We also incorporated the client's detailed feedback throughout the project, adjusting scenes and compositions to keep the artwork closely aligned with the story.
The final project became a complete illustrated children's book featuring Ollie and his new friends on their journey home after the storm. The artwork was refined across the book to match the manuscript, including detailed scene changes, character adjustments, story continuity, and the final reunion scenes.
The finished illustrations capture the book's central themes of faith, hope, friendship, kindness, and helping others. The client was extremely happy with the work and described the experience as “wonderful” and “professional,” saying he planned to work with Aadil on future children's books in the Ollie series.
““The most wonderful and Professional experience from Aadil. I'm a first time author and plan on using Aadil kidilus for my next four children's books.””
