Convert any ISBN-13 to a print-ready barcode. Download PDF, PNG or SVG — no signup, no watermark.
Note: This tool converts your existing ISBN-13 into a barcode image. We do not issue or sell ISBN numbers.
Kidillus provides the fastest free way to convert your ISBN into a scannable barcode image. Whether you are self-publishing through Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or Barnes & Noble Press, our generator produces files that meet every major distributor's specification. No account. No watermark. No cost.
Amazon KDP requires the barcode on the back cover of all printed books. The generated file meets these official requirements:
| Format | Width | Height | Standard | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ISBN-13 only | 2.0″ (50.8 mm) | 1.25″ (31.75 mm) | EAN-13 | ✅ KDP & IS compliant |
| ISBN-13 + Price | 2.44″ (62 mm) | 1.25″ (31.75 mm) | EAN-13 + EAN-5 | ✅ KDP & IS compliant |
| KDP minimum | 1.75″ (44.5 mm) | 1.0″ (25.4 mm) | EAN-13 | Reference only |
Our tool outputs above the KDP minimum and at the recommended "nominal" size, so your barcode scans correctly at any retail point-of-sale.
Both 978 and 979 prefixes are fully valid EAN-13 barcodes. Amazon KDP now issues ISBNs starting with 979-8 at no charge. If you purchased your own ISBN from Bowker (USA), Nielsen (UK), or another agency, it likely starts with 978. Either way, simply enter the full 13-digit number and our generator handles it correctly.

The optional 5-digit price addon (EAN-5) tells retailers and scanners what your book costs. Here are the most common options:
| EAN-5 Code | Meaning | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| 90000 | No fixed price | Recommended for KDP — price can change freely |
| 5XXXX | USD price | e.g. 51499 = $14.99 · 50999 = $9.99 |
| 6XXXX | CAD price | e.g. 61999 = CAD $19.99 |
| (blank) | EAN-13 only | Standard KDP barcode — most flexible option |
Yes — both KDP paperbacks and hardcovers require the barcode on the back cover. The size specification is identical for both formats. eBooks (Kindle / EPUB) do not require a barcode; the ASIN serves as the digital identifier.

Amazon KDP accepts EAN-13 barcodes at a minimum of 1.75″ × 1.0″. Our tool generates the recommended size of 2.0″ × 1.25″ (without price) or 2.44″ × 1.25″ (with EAN-5 price code), both of which exceed the minimum and scan reliably.
Yes. IngramSpark, Barnes & Noble Press, and most other distributors use the same EAN-13 standard. The generated barcode works across all major print-on-demand platforms.
Yes. Amazon KDP's free ISBNs start with 979-8. Enter the full 13-digit number and the generator produces a valid EAN-13 barcode regardless of prefix.
No. Kindle and EPUB eBooks are identified by their ASIN, not a scannable barcode. Barcodes are only required on physical printed books.
Use the PDF for sending to your printer or uploading to KDP. Use SVG if you are placing the barcode in a design application. Both are vector-based and will remain sharp at any size.
Disclaimer: Kidillus provides this tool free as a resource for authors. While our barcodes meet EAN-13/EAN-5 industry standards and Amazon KDP size requirements, the publisher is solely responsible for verifying ISBN validity and pricing data before bulk printing. Always scan-test a proof copy.
