The Psychology Lab wanted to create a warm, engaging children’s story featuring three mini horses—Piglet, Brownie, and Spartacus—who live in a school and learn about human emotions, feelings, kindness, and mental health. The goal was to turn these meaningful themes into a fun and visually engaging story that children could easily connect with.
I developed a colorful, expressive cartoon illustration style with three distinct mini-horse characters, each with their own personality and visual identity. I created consistent character designs, expressive facial expressions, and warm environments to support the emotional storytelling.
The illustrations were carefully composed alongside the story text to maintain a clear reading flow while making each page visually engaging. I also designed the cover and interior layouts to create a consistent look across the complete book.
The final project included custom character illustrations, illustrated story scenes, the front cover, and print-ready interior layouts. The completed book brought Piglet, Brownie, and Spartacus to life through a bright, child-friendly visual style while supporting the story’s themes of kindness, emotional awareness, and connection.
