The author wanted a fun and magical children’s story set around the sea, featuring a young girl, a friendly sea fairy, and an exciting adventure. The story follows Summer as she discovers a magical talking seashell and learns about protecting the ocean. The goal was to create colorful, engaging illustrations that would capture the sense of adventure while being appealing to young readers.
We used a bright 2D flat illustration style with expressive characters, playful compositions, and colorful seaside environments. I developed the characters and scenes to match the story while keeping the visuals clear and engaging for children ages 3–5. Special attention was given to character expressions, magical elements, ocean details, and consistent visual storytelling throughout the book.
The 22-page children’s book was illustrated and completed within a 3-week timeline, including the cover and interior illustrations. The final artwork created a colorful and cohesive seaside world for Summer’s adventure, bringing the characters, magical sea fairy, ocean setting, and story to life.
