The author came with her first fiction novel, “Behind Closed Doors,” a collection of porch-light stories exploring the hidden experiences, emotions, struggles, and hopes of everyday families. The book follows different characters and stories connected by themes of faith, love, resilience, and truth.
The project required a cohesive visual identity for the novel, including chapter-opening artwork, interior illustrations, decorative elements, typography, and a professionally designed book layout that complemented the emotional tone of the stories.
We developed a detailed pencil-sketch illustration style to give the novel a thoughtful, intimate, and literary atmosphere. Architectural scenes, interiors, porches, doors, and other story elements were illustrated with fine linework and shading.
The interior layout was designed to combine the illustrations with the manuscript, chapter titles, table of contents, decorative elements, and author information while maintaining a consistent visual language throughout the book. We worked closely with the author to understand her vision and refine the project according to her requirements.
The completed project delivered a cohesive illustrated fiction novel with professionally designed interior pages, chapter artwork, decorative elements, and a finished cover. The pencil-style illustrations reinforce the reflective and emotional tone of the stories while giving the book a distinctive visual identity.
The author was very pleased with the collaboration, particularly appreciating the patience, flexibility, and ability to understand her vision for her first fiction novel. A professional certificate confirming final delivery and usage rights was also provided, and the author expressed her intention to work together again.
“I appreciate working with Kidillus. He saw my vision for my first ever fiction novel. He accommodated me and worked with me. He was very patient and even issued a professional certificate of final delivery and usage rights. I'll be working with him again. Thanks for your work.”
